About Us — From India to the World

EdPublica: Data-Driven Journalism for a Changing World

EdPublica is a global, English-language multimedia publication committed to advancing public interest science and education journalism. Headquartered in Kochi, India, with contributors and collaborators across continents, we tell deeply reported, evidence-based stories that connect local realities to global debates.

At EdPublica, we decode the world through data, science, and human insight. Our core coverage spans climate change, environmental policy, education systems, learning science, innovation, technology, global health, astronomy, space science, and physics, along with evidence-backed reporting on society, governance, and the future of knowledge.

We specialise in making complex issues understandable—without jargon, without distortion, and without sensationalism. Our journalism goes beyond daily headlines: we focus on underreported stories, scientific breakthroughs, long-form explainers, and analysis grounded in credible research and verifiable data.

We believe that a scientifically literate public is essential for a functioning democracy. Policymakers, the media, and civil society must engage openly and responsibly with science—and be held accountable for the decisions that shape our collective future.

A UNESCO Media & Information Literacy Alliance Member

EdPublica is proud to be a member of the UNESCO Media & Information Literacy (MIL) Alliance, a network of global institutions working to strengthen critical thinking, digital literacy, and informed civic participation.

Membership in the UNESCO-MIL Alliance reflects our commitment to:

  • Countering misinformation and pseudoscience
  • Promoting scientific literacy in public discourse
  • Advancing fact-based journalism and open knowledge
  • Supporting equitable access to information
  • Encouraging responsible digital citizenship
  • Strengthening media literacy among students, educators, and communities

Being part of this global alliance underlines EdPublica’s role not just as a news publication, but as a knowledge partner, committed to building a society that can evaluate evidence, question narratives, and understand the science shaping the world.

A Commitment to Evidence & Constructive Journalism

We are driven by two foundational editorial principles:

1. Data Journalism

In an era of noise and speculation, we place data at the centre of reporting.

Our journalism draws from verified datasets, peer-reviewed science, public records, global assessments, and open research to help readers see the world more clearly. You can read our editorial philosophy here.

2. Constructive Journalism

We don’t just highlight problems—we illuminate solutions, emerging technologies, community-driven models, scientific breakthroughs, and pathways for progress.

Because informed optimism is as important as informed criticism.

Why We Exist

EdPublica was created to challenge the crisis of misinformation, to counter pseudoscience, and to restore trust in journalism through clarity, accuracy and integrity.

The world’s biggest issues—from climate change to education reform—require journalism that is guided by science, not speculation.

We also exist to confront the deep gender imbalance in science.

UNESCO data shows that only one in three researchers globally is a woman, and representation drops even lower in physics, computing, engineering and leadership roles.

Through initiatives like our Women in Science section, we amplify the voices, insights, and journeys of women shaping global research.

Our Platforms

EdPublica’s journalism extends across a family of platforms designed to strengthen global scientific literacy. Our flagship digital newsroom EdPublica.com delivers data-driven global reporting, while our premium print & digital magazine Education Publica brings in-depth essays on science, climate, and knowledge. We also publish EdPublica Weekly, a Substack newsletter offering curated insights, and run EP News, an India-focused education and research news portal. Together, these platforms reflect our commitment to accessible, evidence-based journalism for readers in India and around the world.

Our People

EdPublica is built by a diverse community of journalists, researchers, editors, and contributors—including senior scientists, PhD scholars, educators, policy experts, and young reporters passionate about public-interest science.

We publish deeply reported features, explainers, research commentary, climate insights, education analysis, and global perspectives that elevate public understanding.

We Want to Hear From You

EdPublica is a growing platform—built around community, curiosity, and collaboration. Our contributors include seasoned journalists, researchers, PhD scholars, science communicators, educators, and senior scientists.
